Ljubljana, January 23, 2009 – Dr. Aleš Podgornik, Head of R&D at BIA Separations, is a finalist for the “2009 Emerging Leader in Chromatography” award presented by LCGC Magazine at the Pittcon 2009  Conference & Expo on March 9, 2009. He is being recognized for his achievements in the development of CIM® monolithic chromatographic resins which are enabling biopharmaceutical companies to bring products to market faster and by increasing productivity by an order of magnitude.

 

He has written 60 papers in the field of chromatography for a number of international scientific magazines and holds 50 international and 7 Slovene patents. He is also the recipient of the Jozef Stefan Golden Emblem Prize for outstanding doctoral dissertation (2001) and the Zois Award (2005). His primary research activities are stationary phases, monoliths, separations processes and biochemical engineering.
